$$$ save it

Mom I’m so bad at saving money. What can I do to start saving money? I thought maybe if I can get started it will get easier.
It seems like some people are savers and some are spenders, but if you’re a spender you can still save money. Keep track of all the money you spend by making a budget. Label everything a ‘want’ or a ‘need’. The needs are only the things that you have to have to survive. Try to cut things off the ‘want’ list. Change eating out from four times a week to one or two times, exercise at home and try not to do or buy anything that you don’t have to. The extra money you’re saving will start to add up. Take the money and put it in a separate bank account or put it away and forget about it. That’s a pretty painless way of saving money.

Start small

Mom, I need help. I have lots of problems and I can’t handle any of them. I’m a mess. What can I do?
Maybe it’s just called being alive. You’re having trouble trying to figure out how to solve your problems, but you should try to learn something from them that will help you. Break down your big problems into smaller solvable problems. You need to just start anywhere and go for it…good luck.

too high a price to pay

Ask Mom. I can never keep a secret. Can I learn how to keep a secret?
The best way to learn how to keep a secret is think about how terrible you’ll feel when the person who trusted you with their secret will feel when they find out that you told someone the secret. You’ll never regret keeping a secret, but telling a secret might cost you a friendship and your reputation as someone that can be trusted- that’s a high price to pay…

btw…today is national dog day…isn’t that every day?

make sure they’re sharp

Mom, what’s the first and most important thing I should buy for my new kitchen?
Good sharp knives and use them very carefully…

gifts are good

Dear mom, I want to buy gifts for people who have been very nice to me. How do I find perfect gifts?
It’s not that difficult to find great gifts. Pay attention to what these people like or if they mention what they want during a conversation remember it. Also, get what they want not what  you want.  Easy, fun and convenient gifts are the best instead of the most expensive gifts.

happy spumoni day…try it you’ll like it

stay hot & carry on

Dear Ask Mom, I’m really unhappy that the summer is almost over. I’m getting depressed, what should I do?
Me, too. Try to ignore it…and enjoy it as long as you can.

almost forgot the most important thing…eat as much ice cream as possible, at least three times a day!

set priorities

Mom- I just started a new job and I’m afraid that I am going to be a workaholic. What should I do to make sure that it doesn’t happen?
I just read perfect advice: “Don’t ever confuse your life and your work. The second is only part of the first.”

choose to quit

Dear Ask Mom, I am unhappy about some of the things that I’m doing, but I was always taught that quitting is the worst thing to do. Do I have to keep doing what I’m doing and try to figure out how to make things better or should I quit?
It could be that the word ‘quit’ is making you feel bad. If it makes you feel better think of it as making a choice to stop doing what is making you unhappy and start doing something else that will make you happier.
